The U.S. is poised to overtake Russia as the world’s largest wheat exporter.
Stephanie Bryant-Erdmann, market analyst with U.S. Wheat Associates, says after falling behind the former Soviet Union three years ago, a depreciating Dollar relative to the Russian Ruble is making American wheat more attractive overseas.
“When global prices came down, the Russian Ruble was fairly weak. That allowed that foreign currency to cushion Russian farmers and kind of insulate them from the world market.
