The feeder council chairman for the Minnesota State Cattlemen’s Association says price concerns are causing hesitancy in the market.
Grant Binford of Luverne tells Brownfield a string of unprofitability has producers in his state nervous about sending cattle to slaughter.
“There might be some situations where some guys are hesitant to put stuff back in. Then there are other areas that have done a little better, and maybe are looking to put stuff back in.”
The latest Cattle on Feed report shows cattle and calves for slaughter in Minnesota fell three percent from April and down two percent compared to May 2016.
