A livestock market analyst says the USDA’s latest Cattle on Feed report indicates an increase in slaughter cattle this fall.
University of Missouri’s Scott Brown says producers need consider the impact on prices. “If we start to see these larger runs it could very well put pressure on cattle prices as we look ahead,” he says. “Now may be the time to think about how you want to market calves and cattle as you look at the latter part of 2017.”
He tells Brownfield increasing market access for US beef is critical and advancements have been made to resume US beef exports to China by the mid-July target date.
