The USDA says 65% of this year’s U.S. corn crop is in good to excellent condition. That’s the first official national rating of this growing season. It’s also down 7% from this time last year and lower than what many analysts were expecting. Weather over the last couple of months has varied widely and has shown some signs of improvement in parts of the Midwest, but wet conditions and cool temperatures during planting in some key U.S.
