A Tennessee school has won the American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture’s First Peas to the Table Contest.
Mary Tomlin’s third-grade class at Fayette Academy (in Somerville, Tennessee) wins the grand prize – a visit from Miss America 2017 Savvy Shields.
First Peas is a national competition for schools and encourages children in kindergarten through fifth grade to plant, raise, and harvest peas. Students competed to grow the greatest amount of peas (measured in cups) from February 20 through May 15.
