The U.S. Farmers and Ranchers Alliance (USFRA) has released its first Agriculture in America Sustainability Report.
CEO Randy Krotz tells Brownfield farmers and ranchers have been working to be sustainable for decades and this report will help the food industry understand what technologies and practices are used to protect the environment. “When a food company comes out and says, ‘Hey, we want you to be sustainable and we want sustainable food production—so don’t use GMOs.’ We have failed as agriculture to some degree to help that food company understand that that actually takes us in the opposite direction.”
He says the report includes sustainability metrics for soybeans, dairy, poultry, pork, corn, sugarbeets, cotton and beef.
