A southwest Missouri farmer who’s had to replant because of flooding says he’s stuck in a weather cycle. At the end of April, Kyle Kirby had a thousand acres of corn and 500 acres of soybeans to replant. He’s been able to replant SOME of that, “We’ve got PART of the thousand acres of corn and ALL of the soybeans replanted. BUT, we still do have 300 to 400 acres of corn that we have not been able to replant yet.”
And he says some of those acres will need replanting a second time, “It’s been a pretty futile attempt to try to get a crop in the ground, that’s for sure.”
Kirby tells Brownfield Ag News the pattern this spring has been rain at the end of the week, drying out for planting on Tuesdays, with rain cycling back for the weekend – and this week’s forecast is no different.
