Last week’s rains slowed Nebraska’s planting progress

Frequent and sometimes heavy rains slowed Nebraska’s spring planting progress last week. But corn and soybean planting numbers still remain close to their five-year averages.
As of Sunday, corn planting was 87 percent complete, slightly behind normal. Corn emergence, at 52 percent, was also running a bit behind.
Soybean planting stood at 52 percent, compared to 61 average. Thirteen percent of soybeans had emerged.
Nebraska’s winter wheat crop is rated 45 percent good to excellent, 41 percent fair and 14 percent poor to very poor.
