A first-ever Wisconsin Dairy Summit is coming up June 19th. Wisconsin Ag Secretary Ben Brancel says the University of Wisconsin System put the summit together after receiving a letter from state legislators asking if research expansion was possible.
Brancel says the event will bring together different segments of the industry. “I think a lot of the dairy industry, each person knows their own segment but nobody knows what’s going on in another part of the dairy industry, so this will be an overview of the dairy industry, historically where are we and where might we go.”
And Brancel says the summit will not address specific situations like the recent loss of processing for 75 farms but will talk about the overall structure of the state’s dairy industry.
