POET Biorefining has announced expansion at its Marion, Ohio facility that will more than double its ethanol production capacity. Production will grow from 70 million gallons per year to 150 million gallons annually. The expansion will also increase high-protein animal feed production to approximately 360,000 tons per year.
Ohio Director of Agriculture Dave Daniels says the announcement is welcomed. “Ohio’s an ag state and we’re a big corn state,” he says. “We have the corn production here to support and also have the infrastructure to not only produce the ethanol but also to roll it out to the consumer that gives them more choices in the marketplace.”
Jeff Lautt, president of POET says as more drivers chose E15 fuel and biofuels demand increases, growth opportunities like the Marion facility will follow.
