An extension soybean agronomist says newly planted soybeans will likely fare better in wet fields.
Seth Naeve is with the University of Minnesota.
“It might actually be worse on some of those fields that were planted up to a week before they got that heavy rain. Those beans will be just coming up, and (the moisture) will probably be a little bit tougher on those than it will be for some of (soybeans) planted just before the rain.”
He tells Brownfield soybeans under water can survive longer while the seedling remains below ground.
