A south-central Minnesota crop and livestock producer plans to expand her cover crop acres.
Rochelle Krusemark of Trimont says she planted cereal rye into soybean stubble and on corn ground that was chopped for silage last fall.
“We are grazing cows and calves in the bean field. And the cereal rye that’s growing where the corn was and soybeans will be next week, we’re going to chop that and bag it for the cows to eat.”
After a successful first year experimenting with cover crops, the Krusemarks intend to build upon what was seeded in 2016.
