During his visit to Iowa last week, Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue was asked whether President Trump is wavering in his support for ethanol and the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS).
Perdue assured the crowd that Trump’s stance has not changed.
“Did you hear what he said during the campaign? Renewable energy—ethanol—is here to stay,” Perdue said. “This is a mature industry and it’s continuing to grow and thrive. I look forward to giving the President better ideas on the Renewable Fuel Standard and other things that can help it do even better.”
The appointments of RFS critics Scott Pruitt and Rick Perry to head the EPA and Department of Energy, respectively, have raised concerns from some in the ethanol industry.
