Almost one-quarter of Iowa’s expected corn acreage was planted last week.
As of Sunday, 52 percent of the crop was planted, slightly behind the five-year average. Northeast Iowa had the smallest percentage of corn planted at 35 percent, while central Iowa had the most at 65 percent. Seven percent of the corn had emerged.
Nine percent of the soybean acreage has been planted, two days behind average.
