The Michigan Department of Agriculture could see a 10 percent increase in funding if the Senate approves the House passed version.
State Representatives passed the $39.5 billion dollar state budget Tuesday, coming in below the governor’s recommendations.
Funding for the ag department was increased by more than $10 million to $106 million. The House version includes increased funding for emergency management, food safety, animal health and disease response, and infrastructure, as well as resources for the state’s fruit and vegetable industry and value-added agriculture.
