The cash cattle market was untested on Tuesday. Both buyers and sellers are probably waiting until the second half of the week before seriously articulating bids and asking prices. Given this week’s renewed strength in boxed beef as well as today’s firm undertone in cattle futures, the expectation is feedlot managers will not hesitate in pricing showlists 2.00 to 3.00 higher than last week. The kill totaled 114,000 head, 2,000 below last week, but 2,000 more than last year.
