Branstad vows to make China trade priority if confirmed
Iowa Governor Terry Branstad vowed to make trade one of his top priorities if confirmed as U.S. Ambassador to China, at his hearing before the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations this morning, “Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that a farm boy from a small town of Leland, Iowa would one day have the opportunity to become, with your consent, the ambassador to the world’s most – one of the world’s most – influential countries and one of America’s leading trading partners.”
Branstad was introduced to the committee by Iowa Senators Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst, “Iowa’s extensive trade relationship with China has given Governor Branstad a front-seat view of the complexities of our country’s broader trade and economic relationship with China and will provide him with the foundation to effectively advocate for U.S.
