A Southeast Michigan farmer says more than an inch and a half of rain over the weekend will set the start of planting back another week.
Blaine Baker tells Brownfield while he’s not as worse off as other farmers in parts of the Midwest that flooded over the weekend, most of his fields are heavier clay soils, which means planting will be pushed back for at least another week. “There’s been a little corn planting and some work done, but right here in our immediate area, if it hadn’t have rained people would have cut loose today.
