As expected on Monday the major activity in cattle country is the collection of the new showlists. Last week’s trade took place mostly on Thursday. Southern cattle traded from 135.00 to 138.50, $5.00 higher than the previous week. Northern dressed business from 210.00 to 219.00, roughly 7.00 to 9.00 higher Feedlot managers will be eager to bet on positive momentum and price showlists at least 2.00 to 3.00 higher as the new month begins, probably around 140.00 to 142.00 in the South, and 220.00 to 225.00 on a dressed basis in the North, according to John Harrington at DTN.
