U.S. corn planting pulled even with the five year average last week, at 34% complete. Most of that was likely done ahead of the widespread heavy weekend rainfall, flooding, and cooler temperatures in parts of the Midwest. Next week’s reports should give a fuller picture of the slowdown in planting and possible damage. 9% of corn has emerged, slightly ahead of normal.
10% of soybeans are planted, compared to 7% typically this time of year.
