The Michigan Department of Agriculture has awarded 17 communities rural infrastructure grants.
The department evaluated 73 proposals requesting nearly $13 million to support infrastructure projects in rural communities.
Funds were available to address energy, transportation, water and wastewater systems, and other needs of land-based industries including agriculture.
Projects were awarded throughout northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula. Details can be found here.
