A dairy cooperative leader says the milk producers facing a Monday cut off from their processor have some relief today. Dairy Business Milk Marketing Cooperative President John Pagel tells Brownfield “I believe everybody that was let go from Grassland now has an opportunity to haul milk to a different plant.” He says the crisis isn’t over yet. “There’s still a few people that are working through the details, but everybody has had an offer on the table.”
Pagel says Wisconsin’s processors and the Cheesemakers Association really stepped up to help the 58 Wisconsin farms let go by Greenwood, Wisconsin-based Grassland after Grassland lost its ultra-filtered milk market in Canada.
