Farmers were finally able to get into well drained fields in Michigan over the past week. The USDA says only two and a half days were suitable for field work with intermittent rain showers keeping the majority of progress at bay.

The winter wheat condition improved three percent to 65 percent good to excellent. Nine percent of the crop is jointed, 10 percent behind last year but ahead of average.

Farmers were able to plant one percent of corn last week, seven percent of sugarbeets and 12 percent of the oat crop.
