New fertilizer plant begins operations in southeast Iowa

The first large-scale nitrogen fertilizer facility to be built in the U.S. in more than 25 years is officially open for business.
The Iowa Fertilizer Plant, which is located in southeast Iowa near the small town of Wever, held a ribbon cutting ceremony this week. The plant, which took four years and three billion dollars to build, will produce 1.7 million to 2.2 million tons of nitrogen products annually. The plant will produce ammonia anhydrous, urea and UAN solutions and can alternate between products.
