An agronomist is encouraging growers to stay ahead of weeds this spring.
Jon Zuk covers southeastern Minnesota for Winfield United.
He says spring fieldwork has been delayed by cool and wet conditions, but weed germination has not been stunted.
“We don’t have any (corn) seed in the ground, (but) we already have weeds coming up. So make sure if you’re putting a pre down prior to working the ground, make sure it has the right adjuvant in there so you get good burn down.”
Zuk tells Brownfield he’s seeing giant ragweed and Lamb’s Quarters in area fields.
