The Michigan Department of Agriculture has set a “Potential High Risk Area” for bovine tuberculosis (bovine TB) in parts of five northern counties in the Lower Peninsula.
The declaration comes after the Department of Natural Resources confirmed four free-ranging white-tailed deer positive for bovine TB in Iosco, Oscoda, Presque Isle and Roscommon counties.
Cattle and bison herds within a six mile surveillance area of each confirmed deer will be tested within the next six months.
