The Los Angeles school district has been sued for serving hot dogs and other processed meats to students. An ABC News story says the activist group Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine filed the suit claiming the products increase the risk of cancer. The suit asks the court to block the district from offering processed meats. It also seeks the same ban for a school district in San Diego County.
The North American Meat Institute calls the lawsuit a publicity stunt.
