Cool and rainy weather continued to prevent spring fieldwork across Wisconsin last week. The USDA’s ag statistics service in Wisconsin says only two and a half days were suitable for field work and much of that was planting alfalfa, spring wheat, and oats on light soils. Many farmers are applying manure and fertilizer where they can in anticipation of planting within a couple of weeks.
Wisconsin soil moisture is rated nearly 70% adequate and 30% surplus.
