The Beef Checkoff is encouraging consumers to reduce their environmental footprint by taking the 30 Day Food Waste Challenge.
Brandi Buzzard Frobose tells Brownfield a recent Beef Checkoff sustainability study found food waste costs the average American family about $2,500 each year. “While beef is one of the least wasted commodities in the food space, if we cut food waste of beef in half, full supply chain sustainability of beef would increase by 10 percent.”
She says almost half of food wasted is from fruits and vegetable and 20 percent is from beef.
