The Ag Secretaries of Wisconsin and New York have asked the USDA to help dairy farmers in their states affected by Canada’s newly expanded trade barriers.
Secretaries Ben Brancel and Richard Ball have sent a letter to USDA Acting Deputy Secretary Michael Young asking the USDA to buy surplus butter and cheese for school lunches and food assistance programs to remove some of the surpluses from the market. Canada has a supply management system for milk, and no longer wants U.S.
