Michigan State University’s Institute of Agriculture Technology enrollment has increased by more than 20 percent in the last year.

Director Randy Showerman tells Brownfield 10 community colleges have partnered with the institute to offer certificate programs and associate degrees to train students for careers in the food and agriculture industry.  “Over the last three years, we’ve been able to add additional community colleges based on the strength of agriculture as well as the community colleges being willing to make an investment into the program.”  He says the community colleges and MSU share costs for coordinators to carry out the two year programs which are tailored to the needs of employers.
