Minnesota remained the top sweet corn producing state in 2016.
The USDA says Minnesota farmers produced more than 14 million per hundredweight (cwt), accounting for 28 percent of the nation’s total of 74 million.
The fresh market value in Minnesota was nearly $11 million dollars, and over $55 million for processed sweet corn.
Minnesota also produced the second-most peas nationally a year ago, totaling 1.9 million cwt.
