The late Don Heil of Norborne, Missouri was inducted into the new Missouri Soybean Hall of Fame Wednesday in Columbia. The award was accepted by Heil’s son-in-law David Durham (pictured), who now farms the land once home to Heil. The Hall of Fame winner came to be known as “Mr. Soybean” in Northwest Missouri after founding a voluntary soybean checkoff. He served a dozen years on the Missouri Soybean Merchandising Council after the national mandatory soybean checkoff began.
