Record or near record supplies may finally be having an impact on U.S. cheese and butter production.
The USDA says cheese production in February 2017 totaled 941.708 million pounds, down 1.4% on the year with a 4.0% decline in Italian type cheeses to 407.134 million cancelling out a 1.7% increase for American to 313.174 million pounds. Month to month, total cheese production was down 9.9%, American was 10.6% lower, and Italian was down 10.3%.
