The season’s first weekly crop progress report for Iowa shows soil moisture conditions are adequate to surplus across most areas, with southeast Iowa the only exception.
Overall, topsoil moisture levels rated 26 percent surplus, 67 percent adequate and seven percent short to very short. Subsoil moisture levels rated 20 percent surplus, 72 percent adequate and 8 percent short to very short.
In the southeast corner of the state, however, the topsoil moisture is rated 30 percent short to very short and subsoil moisture is rated 51 percent short to very short.
