The USDA will be conducting its biannual Ag Labor Survey this month.
Minnesota state statistician Dan Lofthus says the data collected from more than 14,000 farm operators across the country helps federal policy-makers base labor policies on accurate information.
USDA and the U.S. Department of Labor use the statistics to establish minimum wage rates for ag workers, as well as administer farm labor recruitment and placement service programs.
Survey questions include total number of hires, average hours worked, and wage rates paid for the weeks of January 8th and April 9th of this year.
