Nebraska sees big jump in soybean planting intentions

Nebraska farmers say they’ll plant a record amount of acres to soybeans this year.
Friday’s prospective plantings report estimated soybean planted acres at a record high 5.7 million, up ten percent from last year. Acres planted to corn, at 9.55 million, would be down three percent from 2016.
It looks like much of the additional soybean acreage will come from wheat and sorghum. Nebraska’s winter wheat acres are estimated at a record low 1.11 million, down 19 percent from last year.
