Missouri Governor Eric Greitens will sign the bill Friday that increases penalties for the off-label use of herbicides. The signing of what’s known as the Dicamba Bill will be in the Bootheel town of Portageville, in the area where crop damage resulted last summer from off-label application of the herbicide. Governor Greitens says it’s an important issue, particularly for the southeast region, and also for everyone who values agriculture in Missouri.
The bill increases the penalty for off-label herbicide application to $10,000 per violation and was passed with an emergency clause, meaning it’s effective as soon as it’s signed.
