The National Census of Solar Jobs reports 20 percent year to year growth over the past four years in the U.S.
The census says solar employment increased by 25 percent from 2015 to more than 51,000 workers.
Chuck Lippstreu with the Michigan Agri-Business Association tells Brownfield the 25 percent increase in solar jobs last year is partly because of state and federal support of renewable energy. “The last farm bill included a historic investment in programs like the Rural Energy for America Program that can help folks not just with energy efficiency but also to install new renewable applications like solar energy.” He say the Michigan legislature this December passed energy reforms that increase that state’s commitment to clean, renewable energy which will have a positive impact on urban and rural communities.
