An agronomist maintains seed treatments are still worth the investment for all farmers in wet, cool environments as margins remain tight.
Dan Koehler covers southern Minnesota for Dekalb/Asgrow and says it’s really important crops get off to a good start.
“At a recent grower meeting I was asked about Sudden Death Syndrome (SDS) and management practices he can put into his soybean program. It really starts with variety placement, a good tolerance to Sudden Death Syndrome, but then the next thing is a good seed treatment.”
SDS infects plants through the roots, so Koehler says offering protection in the form of seed treatments usually pays dividends.
