BASF is expanding its production of dicamba in anticipation of growing demand for its new Engenia herbicide product.
An expansion of BASF’s production facility in Beaumont, Texas will allow the company to increase its dicamba output by more than 50 percent.
Paul Rea, senior vice president of crop protection with BASF, says the weed management challenges faced by farmers continue to grow.
“Just from 2005 through 2015, there were 120 weed species, which grew to 155 in that timeframe, that are exhibiting some level of weed resistance,” Rea says.
