U.S. milk production in the top 23 states declined slightly in February 2017.
The USDA says monthly total of 15.654 billion pounds was down 1% from February 2016 with a lower average per cow yield, down 32 pounds to 1,801, cancelling out an increase in the U.S. herd, up 66,000 head to 8.694 million. If the February 2016 production total were adjusted for the Leap Year, the February 2017 total would be up 2.5% on the year.
