The Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries is investigating three possible cases of high-path avian influenza on three separate premises in northern Alabama.
The virus was discovered on a commercial breeding operation and in a backyard flock. An investigation into a possible case is underway at a flea market.
According to the department, no significant mortality was reported in the commercial operation and samples from all three locations are being sent to the USDA’s National Veterinary Services Laboratories in Ames, Iowa.
