Brokerage and analytical firm Allendale Incorporated says a survey of producers’ planting intentions shows the potential for record U.S. soybean acreage.
Soybean planted area is estimated at 88.825 million acres, up 5.392 million from 2016. Implied production is expected be 4.141 billion bushels, down 166 million on the year with Allendale expecting return to trend line yields and a more normal weather pattern. The yield is projected at 47.08 bushels per acre with harvested area of 87.955 million acres.
