Total trade volume for the cattle last week was smaller across the board, especially in Texas. The new showlists collected today appear to be generally larger with only Kansas offering fewer ready cattle. Asking prices are not well defined at this time, but feedlot managers will probably start out by pricing cattle around 128.00 in the South and 204.00 to 205.00 in the North. Monday’s cattle kill was estimated at 116,000 head, 2,000 more than last week, and 5,000 greater than last year.
