Missouri researchers have found more than 60% of the pollinator seed mixes they’ve screened contain Palmer amaranth seed, the highly resistant weed on the march in the U.S.
Kevin Bradley, University of Missouri Extension weed scientist, tells Brownfield they’ve checked 30 to 40 bags so far, “We’re trying to expand beyond Missouri and trying to get bigger sample size. More mixes of various kinds.” Bradley tells Brownfield Ag News the bags were purchased on the internet and from various seed dealers in Missouri.
