A livestock economist says livestock producers impacted by the wildfires in Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and Colorado need to keep detailed records of their losses.
Scott Brown is with the University of Missouri. “I know we’ll have the Livestock Indemnity Program, or LIP available to help make payments for producers that have been affected by the wildfires,” he says.
He tells Brownfield while producers are concerned with the well-being of their livestock first, they also need to keep in mind the business of their operation and make sure they have the adequate documentation that is needed.
