A northward shift in the storm track will keep most of the West warm and dry during the next 5 days, except for occasional rain and snow showers from the Pacific Northwest to the northern Rockies. Dry weather will extend as far east as the central and southern High Plains. Meanwhile, multiple storms will affect the central and eastern U.S. During the weekend, rain (locally 1 to 2 inches) will develop across the South, with accumulating snow possible on Saturday from the Ozark Plateau to the southern Appalachians.
