A market analyst says recent disruptions slowing the transport of a huge South American soybean crop are not enough to positively impact the U.S. grain complex.
Elaine Kub tells Brownfield frequent rains have washed out roads in the Amazon region of Brazil, leading to a backlog of thousands of trucks hauling soybeans to port.
“Such a critical piece of their logistical movement is that they have to move on trucks in these long lines, and it absolutely is backing up their ability to get the ships out and to fulfill their export obligations.”
She says while delays are costing South American grain exporters hundreds of thousands of dollars, the global supply and demand situation hasn’t changed much.
