Four Illinois farmers are 2017 Master Farmers, selected by Prairie Farmer magazine. The group, to be honored this month at a ceremony in Springfield, are chosen for exceptional agricultural production skills and community service.
The recipients are (pictured left to right) Kent Kleinschmidt of Emden, Joel Kooistra of Woodstock, Allen Entwistle of Riverton and Tracy Jones of Kirkland. Candidates are nominated and judged by Illinois farmers, agribusiness leaders and farm organizations.
The honor was first offered by the farm magazine in 1925.
